📍 Facts in Malaysia
Many students in Malaysia, and worldwide jump from center to center — in Ampang Park, Bukit Bintang, Mont Kiara, some schools,universities, or training companies — “Spending thousands of dollars trying to ‘learn English fast’ or ‘improve their English more quickly’ often leads to disappointment, because without the right guidance and real practice, money alone cannot guarantee progress.” ✅
But sadly, most of them still lack the basic skills to speak confidently.
❌ Many mistakes in speaking:
- Pronouncing simple words incorrectly
- Writing wrong simple sentences
- Struggling to create a simple paragraph
- Speaking weakly, afraid of talking or listening
They can’t even express their daily life with basic simple words using different words, synonyms, strong verbs, expressions to show confidence.

I’m an English teacher — I know what I’m talking about.
📖 Real Story
I remembered one of my students from China. I was in shock from her talking.
She told me:
👉 “Teacher, we don’t need grammar, we need to speak. In China we can’t speak English because the environment is not supportive. The moment we return, we will speak Chinese again. Grammar we can learn in school, but speaking… that’s the problem.”
I respect her thoughts. But the truth is: grammar is not just schoolwork. Grammar is our lifestyle in English. Without it, you won’t be fluent.
📝 The Basics Many Students Don’t Know
There are 8 parts of speech in English:
- Noun
- Pronoun
- Verb
- Adjective
- Adverb
- Conjunction
- Preposition
- Interjection
Every sentence we speak or write is built from these parts of speech.
They help us express ideas clearly, beautifully, and correctly in English.
But many students only know a little — maybe what a noun is — without knowing that nouns have 12 categories, pronouns have around 8, verbs have 12 forms. They only touch the surface.
📚 Many students think grammar is only about solving paper questions like Present Simple, Past Continuous, or Present Perfect. But when you ask them how to use these tenses in real life, they don’t know.
And what about the more advanced tenses?
👉 Present Perfect Continuous
👉 Future Perfect Continuous
👉 Past Perfect Continuous
👉 Future Perfect
These are like “another page” in the book that most students are not even ready to open. But grammar is not just pages — it’s life. Let me explain with examples in my style:
✨ Present Perfect Continuous (action that started in the past and continues until now)
👨🏫 Teacher Waleed: “I have been teaching English online/offline for 7 years.”
👉 Explanation: I started teaching in the past, and I am still teaching now.
✨ Future Perfect Continuous (action that will continue up to a specific time in the future)
👨🏫 Teacher Waleed: “By next year, I will have been teaching English for 8 years.”
👉 Explanation: Imagine one year from now — I will still be teaching, and the total time will be 8 years.
✨ Past Perfect Continuous (action that was happening for some time before another past event)
👨🏫 Teacher Waleed: “I had been teaching for 3 years before I moved to USA”
👉 Explanation: Teaching started earlier, continued, then another past event happened (moving).
✨ Future Perfect (something will be finished by a specific time in the future)
👨🏫 Teacher Waleed: “By 2027, I will have finished creating many online English courses.”
👉 Explanation: The courses are not finished yet, but in the future, by that time, they will be complete.
🔥 See the difference? Grammar is not just exam paper questions — it’s the way we connect time and action in our life. Without it, you cannot express your past, your future, or even your dreams.
💸 Some spend more than RM20,000, yet when asked simple questions like:
• What are the parts of speech?
• How many verbs are in English?
• Can you give a real-life example using them?
👉 They cannot answer!
Why? Because many of these centers rely on fake marketing tricks. They bring in so-called “native speakers” — but many are just tourists on 90-day visas, renewing their stay, not qualified teachers. Some barely graduated, some only finished high school, and they don’t have the ability to truly teach English.
👉 These centers, they don’t really think about the quality of teaching at all. Their only concern is your pocket. Don’t be deceived by their decorated walls, fancy roofs, golden-style lobby or whatever. Don’t be fooled into wasting your time and money without getting the real benefits you need — unless you want to be tricked that way.
Some centers, their big hunt is students from China and the Arabic world. People come to Malaysia or nearby countries with a cheap ticket, easy entry, and sometimes through agents who are connected with these centers. In return, those agents take their commission. Many centers and universities in Malaysia and worldwide have selling agents to attract students to register — whether in centers, universities, or schools. Some are even linked with tourist offices, and in return, they get big commissions. Some universities pay them maybe RM 4500, RM 4000, or RM 3000 per student, depending on the deal.
Some agent companies even offer you 70% commission and for themselves only 30% — which they collect from the universities if you bring them students to be registered under their company.
👉 This is how they earn money in Malaysia and worldwide — like Kazakhstan, Russia, some European countries, USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and so on.
The point is: this is what is going on in Malaysia.
📚 These centers, their “curriculums” (Speakout, American File, IGCSE, etc.) are only references.
The real core of learning English is not the book, not the center — it’s the experienced teacher who does the hard work to build your communication skills.
